Berlin: 4-6.11.07 Conférence URBACT [FR]

Le programme URBACT tiendra sa conférence annuelle les 4, 5 et 6 novembre 2007 à Berlin.

C'est un événément important. Nous reprenons ci-dessous quelques éléments de la présentation de la conférence sur le site d'Urbact [FR] 

Objectifs de la conférence:

  • clôture des deux programmes URBACT et URBAN
  • lancement d'URBACT II
  • l'évolution des questions de politique urbaine dans l'agenda européen,
  •  notamment du passage d'URBAN au mainstream
  • le  rôle de Regions for Economic Change dans la prise en compte par les villes des politiques européennes.

Les résultats des deux programmes URBACT et URBAN seront présentés et le nouvel appel à projet d'URBACT II sera présenté par le Secrétariat d'URBACT.

Berlin 4-6.11.07: URBACT Conference [EN]

The URBACT I Programme will hold its final conference in Berlin on November 4th, 5th and 6th 2007.

From the URBACT website (look there for the complete text) :

It will be the final conference of both the URBACT I Programme and the URBAN Programme.
The conference will also be the URBACT II launching conference.
It will deal with the evolutions of the urban issues in the European agenda:
* The shift of the URBAN Programme to the mainstream,
* the impact of Regions for Economic Change on the local implementation of the European policy
* the results of both the URBACT and URBAN programmes,
* the new call for projects for URBACT II.

Gabriel van den Brink: Prachtwijken?! 4.10.07 [NL]

 E-Urban heeft Gabriel van den Brink hoog zitten. In de NRC van 3 october publiceerde deze wetenschapper, die veldonderzoek (Rotterdam!) niet schuwt, een artikel, waarin enkele conclusies worden getrokken uit het boek Prachtwijken?! dat onlangs onder zijn leiding tot stand kwam.

'COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT' IN THE UK - THE BATON PASSES FROM BLAIR TO BROWN 9.6.07 [EN]

Despite the turbulence of the Blair years in th UK government, one of the policies that has been carried forward with quiet persistence is that of local community engagement and empowerment.

strongprospcomm%206c20%20UKGov.jpgPerhaps the very fact that this is not an issue that catches the headlines in the way that Iraq or the National Health Service do, has protected it from too many shifting trends. On the other hand it has not progressed as fast as its advocates would have liked.

The big question in this field for the next couple of years is whether community empowerment will be further increased and make a decisive impact under Gordon Brown or will be pushed aside by other issues. There are signals in both directions.
